New Commanding General welcomed by Columbia Chamber

Major Gen. John “Pete” Johnson and his family were welcomed on Aug. 16 by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce with a welcome breakfast sponsored by AllSouth Federal Credit Union.


Major Gen. John “Pete” Johnson and his family were welcomed on Aug. 16 by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce with a welcome breakfast sponsored by AllSouth Federal Credit Union.

Major Gen. Johnson assumed the command of Fort Jackson and the U.S. Army Training Center in June as the 49th Commanding General.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gen. Johnson and his family to Columbia,” Carl Blackstone, president and CEO of the Columbia Chamber, said. “We are proud to be the ‘Most Military Friendly Community in America’ and the support we have at today’s event proves that slogan to be true.”

The Columbia Chamber is a private, non-profit organization serving as the voice of its over 1,500 partners on matters of economic, educational, social, cultural, and political concern. In addition, the chamber supports and promotes the success of its partners through networking and professional development.
