South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond has been selected by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) as the new co-chair of the NASS’s Business Services Committee for the 2016-17 fiscal year.
“It is an honor to be selected to this national leadership role as co-chair for the Standing Committee for Business Services,” Secretary Hammond said when speaking of his appointment. “I look forward to working with the business community as well as fellow secretaries of state. We will continue to focus on corporate registration procedures and business-related practices.”
The Business Services Committee is tasked with educating and informing NASS members about state practices. This includes corporate registrations, electronic business filings, notarizations, the filings of Uniform Commercial Codes (UCC) and any of the other various services regarding state practices.
The South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office has provided innovative services, such as the new UCC Online Filing system launched in 2011, while sustaining availability and cost efficiency for its customers. The UCC Online Filing System has since won state, national and international awards for the implementation of creative information technology.
NASS is the oldest public office professional association in the United States, with members in all 50 states.
