The Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development of Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina recently received additional finances for its Workforce Pathways Scholarship program.
The scholarship offers payment for books and course fees for students who receive approval for career and STEM training with continuing education programs.
“We are so thankful that this important scholarship program has been renewed so we can again offer this tremendous opportunity for students to train for a new career,” Bob Walker, VP for Continuing Education and Economic Development, said. “Hundreds of students took advantage of the last installment of the Workforce Pathways Scholarship and are now equipped to begin a new career or advance in their current one.”
Earlier this year, the scholarship was featured as one-time-only funding to students. Fortunately, thanks to the program’s success, the South Carolina General Assembly decided to grant new funds to the South Carolina Technical College System. These funds will renew the scholarship program for one more term.
With these funds, there is now $771,000 available to students at Trident Tech. The program can benefit countless people in the local area, all of whom need more workforce training to make progress in their careers or to get a job at all.
