Marrington Middle School of the Arts in Goose Creek, South Carolina has announced that Dara Harrop has been named its new principal.
The appointment was approved by the Berkeley County School Board during its July 26 meeting. Harrop started her new job on Aug. 1.
“I am humbled and honored to be named the principal of such an outstanding school,” Harrop said. “I look forward to serving the students, faculty, staff, families, and community of Marrington Middle School of the Arts and am excited to continue their rich tradition of excellence.”
Harrop has been involved in public education for 16 years. She started her career with the Berkeley County School District in 2002 and has served as a teacher, student intervention specialist and an administrator in various schools. These include College Park Middle School, Goose Creek High School, Timberland High School and Hanahan High School. Over the past four years, Harrop has been the acting assistant principal at Cane Bay Middle School.
Marrington Middle School hosted an informal “drop-in” on Aug. 2 so students and parents could meet Principal Harrop.
