Officials for Yanfeng Automotive Interiors have announced plans to make a $71 million investment in Laurens County, South Carolina.
The company, a supplier of automotive interior components, will set up shop as a supplier for BMW. The establishment of operations there will create 35 new jobs; workers will produce door panels, instrument panels and floor consoles for various BMW models.
"We are pleased to be part of the community and look forward to working with the employees at the plant, and expanding our relationship with BMW," Nathan Bowen, VP and general manager of Yanfeng North America.
The new South Carolina facility will be housed at Faurecia’s Fountain Inn manufacturing plant at 101 International Boulevard. It includes a 365,000 square-foot manufacturing plant; 100,000 square feet will be added.
“Yanfeng is another great addition for Laurens County," Laurens County Council Chair Joe Wood said. "People are understanding Laurens County is a great place to live and work.”
Yanfeng Automotive Interiors is based in Shanghai and operates more than 100 manufacturing and technical centers in 17 countries that employ more than 28,000 workers worldwide.
