Earlier this week, former State House Rep. Scott Talley unseated incumbent State Sen. Lee Bright in the Senate District 12 Republican primary runoff.
Talley ended up with 52 percent of the votes, while Bright took in 48 percent. Eight years ago, Bright defeated Talley in a runoff election in District 12. Bright blamed his loss on campaigns launched against him by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and Conservation Voters of South Carolina; Talley was also endorsed by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
“The results are clear; the majority of the people two weeks ago and again tonight wanted new conservative leadership in Columbia," South Carolina Chamber of Commerce President Ted Pitts said. "The business community looks forward to working with Senator Scott Talley."
