Patients at South Carolina's urgent care company Doctors Care P.A. can now take advantage of direct-to-consumer telemedicine services.
Patients can see a doctor through mobile devices or computers with the Doctors Care Anywhere platform, which has been added to Doctors Care's 55 urgent care centers. The new platform comes on the heels of a two-year in-center telemedicine program.
After visits, patients can get their records from virtual or in-office visits through a patient portal at www.DoctorsCare.com. Through virtual visits, patients can be referred for further services, such as lab tests and X-rays.
The new platform was developed by Doctors Care and its management company, UCI Medical Affiliates, along with developers from throughout South Carolina, Indesign Firm, and telecommunications provicer Cisco.
“It was important to us to use local talent, and the best technology in the nation, to build a product that would represent the quality and consistency of the Doctors Care brand,” David Boucher, president and CEO of UCI Medical Affiliates, said.
Dr. Thomas Gibbons, chief medical officer and president of Doctors Care, agreed.
“Our patients want convenience and quality,” he said. “Doctors Care Anywhere gives patients more control by allowing them to see a doctor from wherever they are sitting, without interrupting their workday or having to make arrangements for child care to drive to a clinic. Time and health are valuable commodities. We want to make visits as fast and painless as possible — and provide the same quality care they would receive in one of our centers.”
Doctors Care Anywhere is available to South Carolina patients over 18 years of age. For more information visit www.DoctorsCare.com/Anywhere.
