A new executive director for early childhood/elementary learning community is on the job at the Charleston County School District (CCSD) in South Carolina.
John E. Cobb, who has been serving in that capacity in an interim capacity since the beginning of the 2015-16 academic year, has agreed to take on the role permanently.
“Mr. Cobb has distinguished himself as a strong leader in the Early Childhood and Elementary Learning Community,” CCSD superintendent Gerrita Postlewait said. “We’re excited about his vision for and leadership of our elementary schools.”
Cobb earned a bachelor of science degree in music education from Herbert Lehman University in New York, and went on to earn a master's degree in elementary education admininstration as well as an Ed.S. degree in education leadership from The Citadel.
Cobb has been with the CCSD for several years, serving as the principal at Drayton Hall Elementary since 2004. His resume also includes time in the Colleton County Schools; he was principal at Northside Elementary and assistant principal at Springfield Elementary in CCSD.
