Forty-five new jobs will be created as electrical railway couplings manufacturing company establishes its North American headquarters in Pickens County, South Carolina.
Germany-based era-contact USA will make a $3.6 million investment in the new location. Along with automatic electrical couplings, the company also manufactures hand plugs for use in the rail sector as well as power and control signals and ethernet solutions used for train cars.

The headquarters will be located in the Pickens County Commerce Park and will be housed in a 38,000-square-foot facility (with enough adjacent area to expand to as much as 90,000 square feet). The initial building is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2017; hiring for the new jobs will begin after construction is complete.
