Southeast Frozen Foods officials recently announced the company's plans to invest more than $6 million in an expansion of its Calhoun County, South Carolina plant.
“We’re proud to announce yet another expansion and are proud to be a part of this community," Southeast Frozen Foods President and CEO Rich Bauer said. "We’d like to thank the Department of Commerce and Calhoun County for their continued commitment throughout this process.”
The project will create 30 new jobs and will mark the third time Southeast has expanded in the past eight years. In that time, more than 100 new jobs have been created. The company's Calhoun County facility is located in Gaston and covers 17 acres. Once the expansion is completed, the plant will measure more than 200,000 square feet.
"Calhoun County has always shown that low taxes, reasonable regulation and a business-friendly environment not only prime areas for new investments, but expansions as well," Calhoun County Council chair David Summers Jr. said. "This expansion by Southeast Frozen Foods is a clear illustration that our industries view Calhoun County not just as a location for brick and mortar to be built, but also as a permanent home."
Southeast Frozen Foods' headquarters is located in North Miami, Florida; it operates distribution centers in South Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Georgia and Florida. The company distributes its products to supermarkets in 22 states and the District of Columbia, and also exports products to the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
Southeast also provides grocers and distributors with cold storage, procurement, transportation, inventory management and distribution services.
Hiring for the new jobs created by the expansion will begin in the next couple of months. For more information, log on to www.seff.com.
