Expecting to create over 400 jobs in South Carolina over the next half-decade, Nashville-based Sitel this week announced in Columbia that its substantial growth has warranted establishing a new “customer experience center” planned for Spartanburg County.
Planning to establish operations within an existing structure located at 895 Springfield Rd. in Spartanburg, Sitel will set up shop in the 47,000-square-foot building.
“We welcome Sitel to South Carolina and celebrate their decision to do business in our state,” Gov. Nikki Haley said. “By investing $2.5 million and creating 400 jobs in Spartanburg County, Sitel is making a real commitment to our entire Upstate community, and I look forward to watching them grow and thrive there for many years to come.”
Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt added congratulatory remarks on the occasion of Sitel’s first foray into South Carolina, calling the move “a tremendous win.” David Britt, who serves as chairman of the Spartanburg County Economic Recruitment Committee and as a board member of the Economic Futures Group, also expressed pleasure at the decision.
“Sitel collaborates with some of the best known global brands to help consistently deliver excellent customer experiences,” Britt said. “The Spartanburg call center will provide outstanding career opportunities for the area.”
Prospective employees are invited to visit the company’s website to learn more. Originally established in 1985 as an answering service, Sitel now specializes in telemarketing and outsourced customer service, operating over 100 sites across 21 nations.
