More than 160 applicants vied for scholarships this year from the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Accelerate Greater Charleston Scholarships — and the chamber chose 75 awardees from that pool.
These scholarships are awarded to students whose grade levels are below those required for many scholarships. They can be used to fund tuition and books for two-year associate’s degree programs at Trident Technical College.
The scholarship recipients come from 14 schools in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties. The scholarships are given each year to students who have shown good work ethics and who will be continuing their education after high school in career-related fields.
Chamber president and CEO Bryan Derreberry will award the scholarships during a May 10 program.
