Senior Citizens in Anderson and Oconee counties in South Carolina will have easier access to get emergency and long-term repair projects done on their homes thanks to a collaboration between Rebuild Upstate and SENIOR Solutions.
Seniors living in Oconee County have been able to depend on Rebuild Upstate for more than a decade; SENIOR Services was launched in 1968. The organizations' partnership will mean more resources and better quality services.
“This is important because of the hundreds of phone calls we receive each year in Anderson and Oconee counties requesting assistance with home repairs for low-income individuals and families,” Chris Manley, executive director of Rebuild Upstate, said.
The seniors who depend on these organizations — and who without them may not be able to live in their homes safely or stay in their homes at all — are typically living on less than half of the median income in their areas.
Projects undertaken by crews from SENIOR Solutions and Rebuild Upstate are paid for through the South Carolina Appalachian Council of Governments and South Carolina Agency on Aging.
