A new member has taken her place on the South Carolina District Export Council.
Rene Mueller, a professor at the College of Charleston’s School of Business, will serve on the council, the goal of which is to assist regional businesses as they export their goods and services.
Mueller also serves as the director for the college’s international business program and the Global Business Resource Center. She earned a Ph.D. in international marketing, as well as an MBA and a bachelor of science in economics.
“The South Carolina District Export Council helps South Carolina businesses succeed in the global economy,” Mueller said. “I am thrilled to join other business professionals on the committee to help foster growth.”
Mueller was nominated for the position by U.S. Export Assistance Center director Dorette Coetsee. That office is based in Columbia, South Carolina.
Coetsee said Mueller’s knowledge in the areas and international business, coupled with her past work with the South Carolina International Trade Coalition and the Brookings Institute Export Initiative, made her the perfect candidate for the council spot.
The 30 members of the council are from all over the Palmetto State and represent such trade organizations as the South Carolina Department of Commerce, U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Commercial Service.
