Small enterprises and their owners from across the Palmetto State will be honored May 4 at the South Carolina Salute to Small Business Awards.
This is the 13th year for the awards, which are an initiative of the South Carolina State Chamber of Commerce, and are held in conjunction with National Small Business Week. The awards ceremony will take place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in downtown Columbia.
“The success stories represented by our award winners below demonstrate the importance of maintaining an environment in South Carolina where our small businesses can continue to thrive," State Chamber President Ted Pitts said. "The state chamber congratulates this year’s award winners and remains committed to ensuring that they, and all of our small businesses, are supported and heard at the Statehouse.”
This year's winners include South Carolina Small Business Person of the Year, JoAnne LaBounty, Spartanburg Meat Processing Co. Inc.; Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Center Award Region IV & South Carolina, Charleston Area Small Business Development Center; South Carolina Small Business Exporter of the Year, USA eShop; Female Business Person of the Year, Denise Thigpen of Wholesale Boutique LLC; Veteran Business Person of the Year, Joseph Walker III of JH Development LLC; and Minority Business Person of the Year, James Jordon of Jordon Construction Co. LLC.
The Salute to Small Business event will include a matchmaker session for small businesses and large corporations and an awards luncheon. For more information log on to www.scchamber.net.
