Fifty new jobs will be created over the next five years with the addition of a WG Plastics Technology Corp. plant in Abbeville County, South Carolina.
The $2.7 million project in Lakelands Commerce Park Incubator will bring in a manufacturing facility specializing in plastics and molded assemblies. The company was founded by German businessmen Wolfgang Gutmann and Uli Wellhaeuser, and is now a top supplier of plastic injection molded products for the automobile industry.
“WG Plastics manufactures premium parts for premium customers, and we are proud our operations will be calling Abbeville County home," WG Plastics Technology Corp. President Wolfgang Gutmann said.
Company officials plan to eventually move from the incubator; permanent facility construction is expected to commence no later than 2018.
“We are very excited to see this company call our county and our Lakelands Commerce Park home, and we are confident that they will find all the resources they need here in our community to make their business a success,” Abbeville County Council Chairman Bryan McClain said.
Hiring for the 50 new jobs will start later this year and continue into the first part of next year. The company website is under construction; potential employees can send resumes and questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
“WG Plastics Technology’s decision to invest in South Carolina and move here is a huge win for our manufacturing industry,” South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome this fantastic company to the South Carolina family, and we look forward to seeing the impact that the 50 new jobs it’s creating will have on our state in the future.”
