In an effort to give veterans seeking to launch their own businesses a financial boost, SCORE of Charleston, South Carolina is offering a local veterans’ small business grant program through which four eligible veterans will receive $1,000 grants this year.
“Because of an increase in proceeds from our yearly fund-raising golf outing, we are able to provide these grants to four deserving veterans,” SCORE chairman Mel Flaming said.
This year, four eligible veterans will each be awarded $1,000 grants to help them either launch or continue to grow their small business operation. The awards are unrestricted cash funding. Grant recipients will also receive free QuickBooks training from Pathways Consulting Inc.
Grants are available to any military veteran or active service military who has been paired with a SCORE volunteer mentor.
Applications can be found online at https://charlestonsc.score.org/resources/2016-veterans-grant-program-application; applications are due no later than April 29.
