M. B. Kahn Construction Co. of Columbia, South Carolina has been tapped by Union County Public Works to do replacement and upgrade work on the headworks system of the Crooked Creek Water Reclamation Facility.
The work will be done in phases, beginning with the replacement of the headworks facility that takes garbage and debris from the water flowing into the plant. After that, workers will replace the facility’s influent pump station, which is now on Sardis Church Road, and will move it into the facility.
The project will conclude with the building of a 3-million-gallon aerated equalization basin, which will capture wastewater when collects quickly in times of heavy rainfall.
The project will commence in May and is expected to take a year to complete. When the project is finished, water flow to the facility will be equalized, meaning wastewater spills during heavy rains will be avoided.
M. B. Kahn crews are involved in projects throughout the Southeast United States.
