Wertimer earns Marketer of the Year honors at Charleston AMA's Spark! Awards

A veteran of the Charleston, South Carolina business community was recently honored as the Charleston American Marketing Association's 2016 Marketer of the Year.

On March 10, the award was presented to Chernoff Newman's Peter Wertimer at the association's Charleston AMAs Spark! Awards ceremony.

In a nomination letter, Wertimer was described as an "icon" in Charleston's marketing sector. Wertimer has worked in Charleston for more than three decades, during which he has founded and helmed many marketing communications companies, as well as acting as a mentor to fledgling marketing professionals. Wertimer has been active in the Charleston civic community as well, supporting a number of charities.

Award winners included Kelly Jones of the South Carolina Aquarium, 2016 Volunteer of the Year; Ted deLoach of Ted deLoach Marketing Services, Lifetime Volunteer Award; Best Book Cover, Forever Home - Advantage Media Group; Best Collateral, La Belle Epoque - Gibbes Museum of Art; Best Commercial Photography, Sabal Homes - Trio Solutions; Best Copywriting, Magento - Blue Acorn; Best Corporate Blog, Blue Acorn; Best Corporate Identity Package, Scratch Kitchen - Fork & Knife; Best Direct Mail Marketing, RiverLights Invite - The Brandon Agency; Best Event Marketing, Largest Sweet Tea - Touchpoint Communications; Best Illustration, Paste Magazine "Failure" Issue - Timothy Banks; Best Inbound Marketing, Wando Farms - Luxury Simplified; Best Logo Design, Visiture - eHouse Studio; and Best Mobile App, Experience Mount Pleasant - Town of Mount Pleasant.

Other winners were Best Non-Traditional Marketing, Golden Ticket Contest - Lowcountry Local First; Best Outdoor Signage, Miles & Bob - South Carolina Aquarium in conjunction with Moondog Animation Studio; Best PR Campaign, Yawkey the Turtle - South Carolina Aquarium; Best Print Ad, SEWE - Obviouslee Marketing; Best Promotional Video, Lowcountry Local First - Jordan Amaker & Hed Hi Media, Lowcountry Local First; Best Re-Branding/Branding, Higher Purpose and Values - Blackbaud; Best Social Media Campaign, Yawkey the Turtle - South Carolina Aquarium; and Best Website, Le Creuset - Blue Acorn.
