Eighty-one new jobs will be created over the next five years when Sun City Produce launches operations in Greenville County, South Carolina.
The company, an arm of Sun Commodities Inc., will be housed in a 113,000-square-foot facility in Piedmont’s Matrix Industrial Park.
“We at Sun City Produce are very excited with the opportunity Greenville has provided us to expand our business,” EVP Kyle Cummings said. “The bustling growth, as well as the economic stability and infrastructure, were the key factors in establishing our Southeastern distribution facility. Being new to the state, we are eager to partner with the Greenville Area Development Corp. to further strengthen the opportunities for our workforce, so we may achieve continuous growth.”
Sun Commodities is based in Florida; its Sun Group, the majority of which is owned by Hillandale Farms, is a major fresh fruit and vegetable producer. The Piedmont location will be a distribution center, which will be an integral part of Sun’s plan to expand its retail market throughout the Southeast region of the United States.
“We are seeing an increasing number of distributors become contributing members of the Greenville economy, and we are pleased that Sun City Produce has selected the Matrix Industrial Park as a location that will provide the resources needed to be successful,” Greenville County Council Chairman Bob Taylor said.
