Two companies, one from South Carolina, have come together to develop a new suite of products to boost turfgrass health and nutrition.
Gulf Coast Organic (GCO), an Alabama company specializing in green industry products, will collaborate with Sod Solutions, a South Carolina company dedicated to the development and marketing of high-quality turf varieties for various uses.
Dubbed AmpAgronomy, the new line will include soil amendments and sustainable fertility products to promote plant and root strength. The new products will help customers with their sod needs for golf courses, sports arenas and fields, and agricultural tracts.
“The AmpAgronomy line features products rich with micronutrients, amino acids, minerals and beneficial microorganisms," GCO Founder John Chapman, who has tested the new products himself, said. "I have found these invaluable for grow-in on the farm and with transplant to home lawns and golf courses. These products strengthen the grass and are so efficient they take away the ecological concerns of overuse.”
In addition to better strength and growth, AmpAgronomy products will reduce the need for traditional fertilizers.
“One of the great challenges is keeping grass vibrant and healthy while at the same time, not overusing fertilizers and other chemicals that can have a negative effect on the environment,” Tobey Wagner, Sod Solutions' president, said. “Our company has always looked for ways to bring grasses to market that have improved environmental benefits. This line of grass health products will do the same thing from a biological additive point-of-view; much like eating fruits and vegetables benefits people.”
