Lowcountry mayors have taken up leadership roles on the Municipal Association of South Carolina board

The board of the Municipal Association of South Carolina has tapped Walterboro Mayor Bill Young as its new president. Young has served on the Municipal Association's board since 2010; he was elected first vice president this past July.

The president's seat was vacant due to the former president's ineligibility. In keeping with the association's by-laws, Young was appointed to the post and will serve until the association's next membership meeting, which is set for July.

The association's other officers include First Vice President Elise Partin, Cayce; Second Vice President Octavia Williams-Blake, Florence; Third Vice President Dick Cronin, Isle of Palms; Immediate Past President Terence Roberts, Anderson; and new board member Michael Lockliear, Moncks Corner.
