Richland County, South Carolina is one step closer to getting some new sidewalks.
At a recent meeting, the Richland County Council awarded contracts for three sidewalk projects as part of the county's Richland Penny Program. New sidewalks will be installed on Wiley Street, Mildred Avenue and Maple Street.
Funding for the projects came from the Richland County Transportation Penny Program and Richland County's Sheltered Market Program.
The bid for Wiley Street was awarded to Orion Construction Co. The $75,000 project will include putting in a five-foot wide sidewalk on Wiley Street from Superior Street to Edisto Avenue. Two handicap ramps will also be installed.
The bids for the Mildred Avenue and Maple Street projects were awarded to CBD Inc. The company's bid of $144,264 will include five-foot-wide sidewalks along Mildred Avenue's east side from Duke Avenue to Westwood Avenue, as well as a five-foot-wide sidewalk on Maple Street from Gervais Street to Kirby Street.
