South Carolina lawmaker Phyllis Henderson, a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives for the state's 21st district since 2010, has announced her endorsement of Gov. John Kasich's bid for the Republican nomination in this year's election.
"Here in South Carolina, folks are tired of candidates tearing each other down," Henderson said. "John Kasich has really made an impact on voters in his very short time with his positive and inspiring message."
Kasich is the current governor of Ohio. He was first elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. He announced his bid for the Republican presidency on July 21.
Kasich has also served nine terms with the U.S. House of Representatives. He spent 18 years on the House Armed Services Committee and served for six years as chair of the House Budget Committee.
The South Carolina Republican Presidential Primary will take place on Feb. 20.
