Two new members were recently appointed to the Santee Cooper board of directors.
Arnold R. Singleton joined the company's executive leadership team as the SVP of power delivery, while Charles S. “Sam” Bennett II was named VP of administration.
Singleton holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from The Citadel. He went on to earn a master's degree in administration and human resources from Central Michigan University, and is currently a candidate for a doctor of business administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
Singleton, a professional electrical engineer by trade, has been with Santee Cooper since May 2014 when he came on as VP of administration. He also brings to his new role extensive experience in industrial, commercial and residential construction project management.
Before coming to Santee Cooper Singleton was a project manager with POWER Engineers Inc., during which time he served as a manager on various projects. He has also worked as a maintenance team leader.
Bennett was hired by Santee Cooper as manager of economic development in August 2011. Since then, he has been responsible for many successful economic development projects at the company.
Bennett earned his bachelor of arts degree in political science from Winthrop University and went on to earn a master's degree in public administration from the University of South Carolina.
His resume includes stints in the administrations of several municipalities, the most recent as North Augusta, South Carolina's city administrator.
Santee Cooper provides electric power for 2 million customers in the Palmetto State.
