Columbia, South Carolina lawyer Lawrence Flynn is proving his dedication to the community by taking a seat on the board of SC Thrive, a non-profit organization that provides assistance, services and access to programs for South Carolina individuals and families experiencing trying times.
Flynn works for Pope Flynn law firm, which specializes in public finance and governmental law.
SC Thrive's executive director Tricia Richardson said Flynn was a "perfect fit" for the organization's board.
“(Flynn's) attention to detail, strong people skills, and his efforts to bring individuals together will be an asset to our team,” she said.
Flynn said he was impressed with SC Thrive from the first time he learned about the organization.
“SC Thrive combines access to a number of state and private programs, as well as training, for individuals and families in crisis and helps bring them to independence and stability," he said. "I had been looking for a place that served people who are in need and that could use my skills and experience, and it became clear that SC Thrive was the right fit.”
SC Thrive offers a variety of programs including The Benefit Bank, through which people can apply for services from several agencies at one time; Charity Tracker, an online resource that allows service organizations to communicate with one another to help provide services to as many people as possible; and Assets4Education, a program that provides tutors for students seeking help with their education.
