Officials of glass fiber yarn and fiber reinforcement materials manufacturer AGY Holding Corp. (AGY) in Aiken County, South Carolina have announced plans to expand operations — a move that will create as many of 80 new jobs over the course of the next five years.
“As we continue to grow job opportunities in Aiken County, we are very excited about AGY Holding Corp.’s expansion and the 80 new jobs that will come," Aiken County Council Chairman Ronnie Young said. "We are glad to have them as a corporate citizen in our county, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with them.”
AGY's Aiken County facility — the corporation's global headquarters — is at 2556 Wagener Rd. in Aiken. The expansion will include machiney and equipment upgrades to meet increased demand for products from AGY's S-2 Glass and L-Glass specialty glass fiber lines.
"This exciting news demonstrates that Aiken County is a great place to do business, as we celebrate this expansion announcement by AGY Holding Corp.," Aiken County Economic Development Partnership Chairman Gary Stooksbury said.
