The operations and property of Conway, South Carolina-based Compass Post Acute Rehabilitation; Rock Hill, South Carolina-based Las Calinas Post Acute Rehabilitation; and West Columbia, South Carolina-based Opus Post Acute Rehabilitation have all been purchased by Ensign Group Inc., of which the Ensign group of skilled nursing companies is an offshoot.
With these three properties, Ensign owns 185 health-care facilities in 14 states. Compass Post Acute Rehabilitation has 95 beds; Las Calinas Post Acute Rehabilitation has 99 beds; and Opus Post Acute Rehabilitation has 100 beds.
“These three operations are the perfect complement to our recently-acquired operation in South Carolina and provide an excellent platform for us to implement our locally driven cluster model,” Christopher Christensen, Ensign's president and CEO, said. “As our local leadership teams work together, we are confident that they will become the best providers of post-acute services in each of these dynamic and growing health-care markets."
Steve Powell, president of Ensign's East Coast-based portfolio subsidiary Hopewell, agreed.
"We are thrilled with the opportunity to make a difference in South Carolina in a more meaningful way,” he said.
Ensign expects the acquisitions will be "mildly accretive" to earnings in 2016. The newly acquired properties have a combined occupancy rate of 65 percent.
