GEL Engineering LLC project manager Sandra Chzasz recently earned a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) designation.
Chzasz works with GEL's Permitting and Compliance Group. She earned her new certification from the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM). She is now trained and equipped to oversee the handling and management of and safety and compliance issues related to hazardous materials used in GEL's operations.
Earlier in her career, Chzasz became well-versed in state and federal hazardous waste regulations as a hazardous waste commercial facilities inspector for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
In her more than 16 years in the the industry and manufacturing field, Chzasz has become an expert in the areas of waste characterization, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permitting and state agency negotiations. Her duties at GEL include preparing stormwater permits and plans, risk management plans, emissions inventories and air permits as well as working on a variety of environmental compliance projects.
