Boeing South Carolina in North Charleston celebrated late last week as its 100th 787 Dreamliner left the factory floor.
The next step in the process is for the aircraft to undergo a series of system checks as well as flight line engine and fueling runs.
Plans are for American Airlines to begin running the 787-8 sometime in 2016.
According to Boeing, the 787's fuel efficient design and range enables carriers to enter new routes.
