St. Louis, Missouri-based Precoat Metals recently acquired the metal coil coating and processing assets of Columbia, South Carolina's Consolidated Metal Products (CMP).

These assets will be used to develop a Precoat toll processing facility, Precoat Metals-Columbia, that will be part of the company's Southern region.

Precoat Metals is North America's largest independent metal coil coater. It is a unit of Sequa Corp.

All CMP employees will be retained.

"The addition of Precoat Metals-Columbia enhances our ability to meet the expanding needs of our customers, particularly in processing surface critical applications on a wide range of substrates including carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum," Jerry Dombek, president and CEO of Precoat Metals. "We are excited to add these toll coating and processing capabilities to our Southern region, building upon our strong geographic footprint. The facility has an excellent reputation, in large part due to the dedication and productivity of the nearly 100 employees that we welcome into the Precoat family."

Founded in 1961, Precoat operates 16 coil coating lines in 14 locations, with over 1,000 employees.
