Jack Sanders was recently appointed as the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce's 2016 commerce chairman, a newly established position.
Sanders, who is the president and CEO of Sonoco, was chosen for his role with the chamber by the chairman of the organization's board of directors, John Uprichard.
"We are pleased to announce that Jack has accepted the board’s appointment to commerce chairman," Uprichard said. "As South Carolina continues to grow jobs and opportunity, the state chamber must continue to also grow its role of supporting our business community. With Jack’s background in expanding Sonoco to South Carolina’s largest homegrown company, we know he will be a great asset as the chamber broadens its reach to help businesses across the state expand.”
Sanders started with Sonoco in 1988. He was promoted to CEO in 2013.
“Jack Sanders is one of South Carolina's most respected business leaders," South Carolina Chamber CEO Ted Pitts said. "He understands that the future of our state is linked to the success of our businesses and the role they play in improving education, developing our workforce, leading on infrastructure initiatives, and ensuring South Carolina's tax structure is one of the most competitive in the nation. We gladly welcome Mr. Sanders into this role."
