SAGE Automotive Interiors, which has been in business in Greenville County, South Carolina since 2009, recently announced plans to make a $5-million investment in updating and expanding its manufacturing plant there.
Greenville County Council Chairman Dr. Bob Taylor praised the company's decision, saying it bodes well for the county's economic development prospects.
"We are never more pleased than when we see an established company in Greenville enjoy the kind of success that facilitates growth," Taylor said. "SAGE Automotive’s continuing expansion will benefit Greenville’s economy for many years to come.”
In addition to the manufacturing facility, SAGE also has a headquarters office in Greenville County. In total, the four South Carolina locations the company operates employ about 900 workers.
"This investment in Greenville County is significant for our associates and operations," SAGE Automotive Interiors president and CEO Dirk Pieper said. "Maintaining state of the art facilities and technology for our associates in South Carolina is critical to our success.”
Plans are to upgrade the Greenville County plant's equipment and technology. The facility is located at 518 Pumpkintown Road, Marietta, South Carolina.
SAGE provides automotive interiors materials to clients all over the world. The company maintains facilities throughout North America, South America, Asia and Europe.
This is the second major expansion project in South Carolina SAGE had announced in the past 12 months. Earlier this year, company officials began a $4-million empansion to its Abbeville County plant.
