The Children's Trust of South Carolina is under new leadership with the recent appointment of Brian Craven as chair of the organization's board of directors.
Children’s Trust is a statewide organization dedicated to combating child abuse and neglect in the Palmetto State. Professionals are trained to work for the trust, and they in turn work with the families who need services.
Additionally, the trust conducts as well as funds child abuse and neglect prevention programs.
“I view my role and the role of the Children’s Trust as that of stewards of resources that help South Carolina’s most important asset — its children,” Craven said.
Craven is an attorney by trade, and has for the last eight years been the assistant vice president and senior counsel for Colonial Life. His resume also includes extensive non-profit work, most of it with organizations dedicated to the well-being of children and families.
Craven is enthusiastic about the role he will play in moving the Children's Trust of South Carolina forward.
“There needs to be a very strong and concerted effort in truly holding ourselves accountable for standing in harm’s way of our children,” Craven said. “This means action both within our communities and our legislature. We have all agreed on the importance of our children, but without the proper resources to ensure a successful start for a child, free of neglect and abuse, assistance may be too late.”
