South Carolina launches International Strategy and Trade Division

W. Ford Graham, who has served in various capacities since 2008 with the South Carolina Department of Commerce, has been tapped to head the department's new International Strategy and Trade Division.

The goal of the division is to expand the Palmetto State's exports and recruitment of international companies. Graham will be charged with developing a coordinated strategic plan and overseeing operations in South Carolina's four international offices.

“We believe that now is the time to build on recent successes abroad, and to not only continue strengthening ties with important international companies, but also to evaluate the state’s existing and future trade agreements,” South Carolina Department of Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said.

State officials feel the new division will be a boon to businesses as well as to South Carolina's overall economy. Through the new office additional resources will be available, such as grants for export assistance through the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Graham has worked as the department of commerce's director global of business development and director of national investment. He is also the former managing director of the State of South Carolina's Europe Office.
