SCRA Technology Ventures' SC Launch recently announced a $200,000 investment in Charleston Pharma, LLC.
The announcement was made during the annual Southeast BIO Investor Forum in Charleston, South Carolina, which was co-chaired by SCRA's Greg Hillman.
SC Launch has been a backer of Charleston Pharma since 2010. SC Launch has provided the company with a grant and two previous investments.
This investment will be used for a variety of projects, including recombinant production efforts, antibody-drug conjugates exploration and the addition of animal efficacy studies.
"We are delighted to recognize Charleston Pharma as they continue to grow and meet new milestones," SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney said. "We are honored to support this company as we foster the technology-based economy in South Carolina."
Charleston Pharma specializes in the development of therapeutic antibodies and diagnostic tests for cancer patients and health-care providers. The company uses laboratories at SCRA's Medical University of South Carolina Innovation Center.
SCRA Technology Ventures is dedicated to boosting research commercialization and the promotion of high-tech industries in South Carolina. Investments in these endeavors are made through the SC Launch program and are given to early stage, start-up technology companies throughout the Palmetto State.
