Officials from SAGE Automotive Interiors announced plans last week to expand existing operations in Abbeville County, South Carolina to the tune of a $4-million investment.
“Sage Automotive Interiors is pleased to make this announcement for our company and particularly our Abbeville locations," the company's president and CEO Dirk Pieper said. "As we face global competition on cost and performance, we continue to invest in our core strengths in South Carolina to support our future growth."
SAGE, based in Greenville, South Carolina, already operates two facilities in Abbeville County. Established in 2009, the company's focus is on providing product to original equipment manufacturers in the automotive industry.
The new Abbeville County investment will include extensive equipment and technology upgrades. The plants in Abbeville County are at 601 Brooks St. and 1395 Highway 72 West.
The expansion is expected to be up and running by the end of 2015.
Approximately 900 workers are employed by SAGE, which also operates more than 15 plants throughout North and South America, Asia, and Europe.
“It's always great to see an existing industry like Sage Automotive Interiors investing in our community," Abbeville County Council Chair Bryan McClain said. "Sage Automotive Interiors is an important part of our economy and community. We look forward to partnering with Sage Automotive for years to come.”
