On Jan. 1, Scott Graves will become president of Blue Cross Blue Shield South Carolina's private business division.
In his new role Graves, the current president of the BlueChoice HealthPlan, will succeed Jim Deyling, who will retire at the end of 2015. Graves, who has been with Blue Cross since 1998, was selected for the position at the culmination of a national search for Deyling's replacement.
“Scott has a proven track record of both growing our business and improving the quality of services we provide," David Pankau, Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina president and chief executive officer, said. "He has also exhibited a tremendous capacity to understand, manage and lead the critical base business of our company.
"Jim Deyling did a terrific job helping BlueCross navigate through the planning, operationalizing and implementation of health care reform," Pankau said. "Scott’s challenge going forward is to continue to grow the business while identifying opportunities for cost savings for our customers and working with our provider partners to improve quality outcomes and expand payment reform."
Graves holds a bachelor's degree from Furman University.
