A Hampton County location of Nupi Americas Inc., a North American subsidiary of Nupi Industrie Italiane S.p.A., is planned.
The new business will be a warehousing and distribution facility. It represents a $4.9 million investment, and it is anticipated it will create 37 new jobs over the next five years.
“Team South Carolina works hard every day to show businesses that the Palmetto State is ‘just right’ for them to succeed," said South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. "This announcement by Nupi Americas is proof that our efforts are paying off, and I look forward to watching the company succeed here for many years to come.”
Nupi Americas is based in Houston, Texas. The company has manufactured and marketed the NIRON product line, featuring pipe and fitting systems used in plumbing and air conditioning, since 1982.
The company’s Hampton County operations will focus primarily on the NIRON product line. A 50,000-square-foot spec building at 314 Commerce Parkway in Early Branch is being purchased to house the operations, which are expected to be up and running by the second quarter of 2016.
“Nupi Americas has chosen South Carolina to develop its future products in the U.S.," Marco Genoni, president and CEO of Nupi Americas and CEO of Nupi Industrie Italiane S.p.A., said. "The new facility, located in the Southern Carolina Industrial Campus, will be the hub to manufacture and distribute products to our oil, plumbing and HVAC customers."
