In the aftermath of the heavy rains and flooding in early October, South Carolina's roads and bridges have sustained significant damage; as a result, a petition is circulating that would repair the damage.
It is estimated that repairs will cost the Palmetto State more than $1 billion.
"The effects of these tragic weather conditions on our already deteriorating infrastructure will most certainly make the issue of transportation funding the highest priority for our state in the 2016 General Session," according to a news release from the South Carolina Alliance to Fix Our Roads. "For this reason, our organization has taken on a petition campaign to inform our state legislators that we support action on fixing our deteriorating infrastructure system this legislative session."
The petition will be sent to legislators. It can be accessed in two ways: by testing “FIX” to 52886 or by visiting www.charlestonchamber.net.
