Charleston Research Institute board names new members, officers

Amanda LaRue elected to serve as chairman of the board for Charleston, South Carolina institute


The Charleston Research Institute's board of directors in Charleston, South Carolina recently elected 

Amanda LaRue to serve as chairman and George Garmendia to serve as secretary-treasurer.

LaRue is the acting associate chief of staff for research and development at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, in addition to being a MUSC associate professor in the department of pathology and laboratory medicine.

Garmendia is a CPA at Hyland Ruddy and Garbett Certified Public Accountants.

Also elected to the board for two year terms were Ronald E. Acierno, who is a staff psychologist at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, as well as a MUSC professor and associate dean for Research College of Nursing; Joseph Butler, adjunct professor of law at The John Marshall Law School; Amy McNaughton, president of McNaughton Staffing, LLC; and Peter Wartime, president, advertising division, Chernoff Newman, LLC.

The Charleston Research Institute opened in 1997. It is a 501(c)3 research corporation affiliated with Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, which prepares grant proposals, administers grant funds and identifies research sponsors.
