With the establishment of a solar energy project there, Cypress Creek Renewables is making a $15.5 million investment in Florence County, South Carolina.
“We’re very excited to bring more clean energy to both the Florence community and the State of South Carolina," Cypress Creek Renewables CEO Matthew McGovern said.
For the local project, Cypress Creek is collaborating with Charleston-based developer Sustainable Energy Solutions (SES) as well as with dozens of other companies across the Carolinas.
The Florence County solar facility will be built off of North Lynchburg Highway in Olanta and will produce 15 megawatts of energy at full capacity -- enough to provide inexpensive, secure, clean energy to about 3,000 homes in the Palmetto State.
Cypress Creek's focus in on the ownership and development of long-term solar energy projects. The company also operates locations across the nation in Arizona, California, Missouri, New York and North Carolina. The goals of the company's projects are to make solar power economically attractive to utilities and consumers.
The projects overseen by Cypress Renewables are typically two to 10-megawatt utility scale projects. At all its locations Cypress works closely with regulators, utilities and business development groups.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to bring more clean energy online in South Carolina," Sustainable Energy Solutions Owner Paul Fleury said. "This opportunity would not be possible without partners like Cypress Creek Renewables and without the support of the county officials.”
