Mini-grant applications open to racial equality programs in Charleston County.

Programs with a goal of supporting racial equality in Charleston County are eligible for mini-grants from the Lowcountry Unity Fund of Coastal Community Foundation.

Applications for the grants, which run between $500 and $2,000, are now being accepted. Funding from the mini-grants will support new or existing projects; at least one 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (lead applicant) to make the application on behalf of the collaborative is required.

Non-501(c)3 partners could be businesses, government agencies, neighborhood associations or other community groups.

The Lowcountry Unity Fund is committed to the support of long-term solutions to systemic issues contributing to racism and to economic inequality in African-American communities.

Applications will be rated by a committee of community members with ties to the local African-American community. Funding decisions are expected to be made within six weeks of application.

To apply, visit www.coastalcommunityfoundation.org/grants and scroll down to “Community Initiatives."
