Sea Pac LLC is making a $32 million investment with the establishment of a Charleston County facility.
The company specializes in transloading, warehousing, packaging and logistics of plastic resins. The South Carolina facility will create 50 jobs to start, and is expected to offer 200 positions over the next five years.
Founded by Jon McClure, this will be Sea Pac's first location in the Lowcountry. The facility will measure 1.5 million square feet and be built on 107 acres of undeveloped land along U.S. Highway 78 in Ladson.
“The first objective was to secure the site, one close enough to the port with rail access," McClure said. "Our goal is to have the first 400,000- to 650,000-square-foot building completed by mid-2017.”
Charleston County Council Chairman J. Elliott Summey offered congratulations to McClure and Sea Pac.
“This project adds new jobs in the northern section of our county, while also jump-starting the re-development of this major industrial complex," he said.
