The Political Action Committee of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce (CMCC PAC) last week announced its endorsement to re-elect Bill Collins as mayor of the town of Summerville.
"The CMCC PAC has a long-standing relationship with Mayor Collins and believes that he is the best candidate due to the numerous accomplishments he has achieved while being mayor, all of which the Chamber supports," a chamber news release said. "In the last four years, Mayor Collins has worked to improve infrastructure in Summerville, developed and adopted a growth management plan, expanded municipal services and developed a vision to ensure the town's Main Street area remains a vibrant part of the community."
Chamber CEO and President Bryan Derreberry said Collins had "formed positive relationships with other elected officials in the area and has a record of advocating for what is best for businesses."
"(Collins) works closely with the business community as well as local, state and federal elected officials in working to solve regional issues," Derreberry said.
David Hamd, chair of the CMCC PAC, agreed.
"The CMCC PAC Board voted to endorse Mayor Collins for re-election based on his proven record and his strong working relationship with the business community," he said.
