Mitsubishi Polyester Film Inc. has announced plans to expand its existing operations with a $100 million investment in Greenville County.
The Greer plant is the American affiliate of Japan-based Mitsubishi Plastics Inc. Since opening in 1964, the plant has grown over the past five decades from 95,000 square feet to nearly 1 million square feet. It is the largest polyester film plant in the United States and employs more than 500 workers.
“Mitsubishi Plastics has once again demonstrated its commitment to our business, employees, our customers and the Greer community," Bill Radlein, president and chief operating officer for Miltsubishi Polyester Film America, said. "This investment would not have been possible without the strong support of state, local and county officials."
The expansion's anticipated completion date is the third quarter of 2017.
"The city of Greer has enjoyed an incredible relationship with Mitsubishi Polyester Film for a long, long time," Greer Mayor Rick Danner said. "We are truly grateful for their continued investment in the good health and the bright future of Greer."
