Global textile company Suzhou Glacier Import & Export Co. plans to open a subsidiary, Cold Mountain Material Corp., in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, located in Greenville County. The $24 million investment will create an estimated 109 new jobs.
Suzhou is based in China and was founded in 1996. The company now serves markets all over the world, specializing in textiles for the automotive industry.
Cold Mountain Material Corp. will be established in an existing 170,000-square-foot building at 19 Page Court in Travelers Rest. It is expected to be up and running within a year.
“It’s exciting to celebrate another international company making the decision to invest in South Carolina and our people," South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said. "Suzhou’s $24 million investment that will create over 100 new jobs in Greenville County is a real reason to celebrate and truly will make a difference in the lives of South Carolinians."
Greenville County Council Chairman Bob Taylor agreed.
“Score another win for Greenville County’s automotive economy," Taylor said. "We’re at 7,000 jobs and growing. We look forward to welcoming Cold Mountain Material Corp. into the fold.”
