Sunrun, a residential solar company and the largest company dedicated entirely to solar power in the U.S., recently became the first company to provide homeowners in South Carolina with the option to lease solar equipment.

Homeowners in the state can take advantage of cost-saving solar power through a Sunrun BrightSave solar lease with little or no money down. As part of the lease program, Sunrun owns, installs and maintains the solar equipment, requiring homeowners to just pay for the electricity and the maintenance of the panels.

“After only a couple months in South Carolina, we have already seen a real interest from local residents in going solar,” Tyson Grinstead, senior manager of public policy at Sunrun, said. “With the addition of our BrightSave solar lease, which removes the upfront cost of going solar, we hope to make solar even more accessible and affordable for homeowners.”

Homeowners can monitor their energy use using Sunrun's online tools and technology such as Sunrun BrightPath, the industry's first end-to-end automated software platform for managing home solar projects.
