The Clemson University Alumni Association announced Sept. 4 that Columbia-based attorney Shaun Cranford is one of five alumni who have been chosen to join its board of directors.
Cranford is a 2003 Clemson graduate. He holds degrees in political science and communications and is now an attorney with the Cranford Law Firm, representing homeowners' associations in North and South Carolina.
He is a member of the Clemson Alumni Council, former president of the Columbia Clemson Club and a recipient of the Alumni Association’s Roaring 10 Award.
Also joining the association is Joni Byars of Greenville; Mike Hamilton of Franklin, Tennessee; Eric Thome of Charleston; and Barbara Walker Webb of Neeses.
Byars, who graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in management, is a U.S. Army veteran and now works for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Greenville VA Clinic as housing manager for the Homeless Veterans Program.
Byars has been a member of the Clemson Alumni Council since 2012 and is a founding member of the Dorchester County Clemson Club, of which she has served as president and vice president.
Hamilton received an accounting degree from Clemson in 1985 and masters of business administration in 1988. He is executive director of Show Hope, a nonprofit founded to care and advocate for orphans worldwide.
He is also past president of the Tampa Bay Clemson Club.
Thome, a 2000 graduate with a mechanical engineering degree, is owner and operator of Folbot, a manufacturer of folding kayaks. He is a member of the Alumni Council and the Charleston Clemson Club.
Walker, a 1989 graduate in parks, recreation and tourism management, works as a compliance consultant for Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co. of Columbia.
She is a member of the Alumni Council and past president of the Edisto Clemson Club as well as a volunteer for the South Carolina Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, for which she has served as walk chair, co-chair and walk committee member for the Columbia Area Out of the Darkness Community Walk.
The alumni board has 23 members and is the governing body for the Clemson Alumni Association.
