Officials from Charleston, South Carolina-based Barnwell Whaley law firm have recently announced the promotion of Barbara Wagner, Ph.D., to special counsel.
In her role at the firm, Wagner is charged with advising and representing an array of clients, mostly focusing on the areas of construction law and product liability.
“It is rare that you find someone with the background and education Barbara possesses, who also has the drive to excel for her clients and in her own life," Barnwell Whaley Managing Member Bill Killough said. "Barbara is an attorney, a Ph.D. chemist, a former professor of chemistry at the College of Charleston, she is listed as the inventor on 20 United State Patents and she has completed 21 marathons. Her application of that drive and knowledge, particularly with regard to toxic torts and products liability suits where her knowledge of chemistry is particularly useful, provides a great asset to her clients and to Barnwell Whaley.”
Wagner, an Indiana native, also brings to the firm extensive experience in business law and civil litigation, insurance and intellectual property. Her clients have included chemical and drug manufacturers, tire and boat manufacturers and governmental entities.
She has earned degrees from Indiana University and the University of California - Davis and graduated magna cum laude from the first graduating class of the Charleston School of Law.
While in law school, she was a member of the Charleston Law Review and the Maritime Law Bulletin.
She is a current member of the Charleston, South Carolina and American Bar Associations and is a member of the American Chemical Society and Ellevate Charleston. In addition, she serves on the Mount Pleasant Board of Zoning Appeals.
